Overview
The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for medical personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. Students are required to bring a current edition provider manual to class except for the hands-on skills only. Full course includes classroom instruction and in-person skills evaluation. Students registering for the hands-on skills only must have already completed the Heartcode PALS online instruction (verification required). Students who have not already completed the Heartcode PALS online instruction should register for the full course to receive both parts. Hands-only skills testing without completing online or in-person course instruction is not permitted. Certification e-cards are issued immediately upon completion of the course and are valid for two years.

What Will You Learn?
According to the American Heart Association, you will learn the following in the PALS course:
- Basic pediatric life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
- Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
- Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
- Airway management
- Related pediatric pharmacology
- Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

Late Policy
Students must contact the instructor prior to arriving late for any scheduled course. The courses have a required length and must begin promptly at the scheduled time. Please note that any student who is excessively late for a scheduled course will be subject to the refund/rescheduling policy and may forfeit their course payment and fees.
Payments/Refunds
All payments for courses are non-refundable and must be made prior to confirming the course. Appointments will not be considered confirmed for any payments that are not received in advance. This ensures that the instructor’s schedule is available for those students who are ready to proceed with their course. Students who need to reschedule a certification course must adhere to the rescheduling policy (see below). Any student who arrives late for their scheduled course may have their course cancelled without refund, unless a late arrival is permitted by the instructor. It is advised to contact the instructor prior to arriving late so that the instructor can be made aware of the situation. Students may still be eligible to complete their course in circumstances of late arrivals due to unforeseen circumstances or emergency situations.
*Refunds will only be issued in the rare event that the instructor must cancel the course.
Rescheduling
Students must arrive on time for scheduled courses to avoid forfeiting the course payment and fees. In cases of emergencies, it is advised for students to contact the instructor prior to the scheduled course time. A one-time rescheduling pass may be available for students who are experiencing an emergency situation and/or are unable to complete their course due to another challenge. Please contact the instructor if there is an issue that will cause you to be late or miss your course. Rescheduling more than once is not permitted and all courses are non-refundable.
