Overview

The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course will train you to quickly recognize life-threatening emergencies, deliver high-quality chest compressions, provide appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Science and education are based on the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).  The AHA’s BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals, clinicians, and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in-facility and prehospital settings.  Students are required to bring a current edition provider manual to class.  Course includes online learning and in-person skills evaluation.  Certification cards are issued upon completion of the course and are valid for two years.

What Will You Learn?

According to the American Heart Association, you will learn the following in the BLS Provider course:

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Late Policy

Students must contact the instructor prior to arriving late for any scheduled course.  The courses have a required length and must begin promptly at the scheduled time.  Please note that any student who is late for a scheduled course will be subject to the refund/rescheduling policy and may forfeit their course payment and fees.

Payments/Refunds

All payments for courses are non-refundable and must be made prior to confirming the course.*  Students who need to reschedule a certification course must adhere to the rescheduling policy.  Any student who arrives late for their scheduled course may have their course cancelled without refund, unless a late arrival is permitted by the instructor.  It is advised to contact the instructor prior to the scheduled course time, once the student is aware of the potential late arrival.  Students may still be eligible to complete their course in circumstances of late arrivals due to unforeseen circumstances or emergency situations.

*Refunds will only be issued in the rare event that the instructor must cancel the course.

Rescheduling

Students must arrive on time for scheduled courses to avoid forfeiting the course payment and fees.  In cases of emergencies, it is advised for students to contact the instructor prior to the scheduled course time.  A one-time rescheduling pass may be available for those who are experiencing an emergency and/or are unable to make their course.  Please contact the instructor if there is an issue that will cause you to be late for your course.  Rescheduling more than once is not permitted and all courses are non-refundable.
